Re: Suggestions/Observation/Bug Reporting

If you are going to a bit of hassle here then maybe it's worth rethinking the whole approach? This problem has been dealt with in many existing chargers, and some do it better than others. The easiest ones to work with, and most common is where the negative terminal is spring loaded pushing along th...

Re: Bluetooth Support

Fair point. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any open source products that allow targeting of both iOS and Android from the same code base. Even considering commercial offerings, I think Delphi is the only option at the moment. I could be wrong of course, so I'm open to suggestions! I have also been...

Travel version

I like the idea of a version with all the communications and display options suggested, but having just got back from a 4 day trip I can also see a case for a charger with different and conflicting needs. A small lightweight charger. I have to carry a 4 cell AA charger and up to 5 USB chargers to ch...

Re: Bluetooth Support

Android it is then! ;-) The latest version of Delphi can compile for both Android and iOS. In theory at least, it would be possible to develop for Android and get it working, then just do a simple recompile for iOS without any other changes. (In practice, it may not be so simple - you also still ne...

Re: NFC Support

Actually, giving it more though a CueCat style scanner (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CueCat) would only cost a few cents to implement, and could handle 1D barcodes that label printers make. Mount a single LED and photo-transistor off the main PCB edge in a simple molded plastic assembly (3D printabl...

Re: NFC Support

I also work with nfc. NFC on a battery is hard to do. The battery is conductive stuff. It acts like a shorted winding in an air-core transformer and sucks up all the energy. You have to waste a lot of power to make it work. If you want to pursue it get your brain wrapped around all the techniques u...

Re: COLOR OLED

I'd vote for a regular color LCD screen so that it could be left on all the time. I would second that. The main advantages of OLED, wide viewing angle and slimness, are wasted on a charger but having an always on display is a must. I would not want to press a button to get the status. Personally I'...

Re: Discussion of Mark's firmware

I've already changed the pattern slightly for the next firmware - it now flashes faster with the white period a lot shorter so that it shouldn't be as confusing. The main reason why I added the white in was so that others are less likely to think that the charger is charging with brief pulses when ...

Re: Bluetooth Support

I'm not sure if it would really be worth the cost and time required, but it might be worthwhile to add support for Bluetooth - the SkyRC NC2500 charger already supports it: http://www.skyrc.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=179 This allows an app on an Android or iOS device to control ...
